Buttery Sandwich Buns for the Bread Machine

These buns are light, fluffy, and buttery, making them perfect for sandwiches, burgers, sloppy Joes, and anything else you would like to put on a roll.

You may ask, what’s the difference between this recipe and my Hamburger and Hot Dog bun recipe? My hamburger and hot dog bun recipe is a bit more substantial and filling. The bun takes the show, and would be recommended for more of a bratwurst, or pub burger type of application. This sandwich bun recipe, while also perfect for burgers, is also a bit lighter, and lends well to shredded chicken and barbecue sauce sandwiches, or with deli meat and cheese. Both are delicious, so try them both and pick what works best for your application!

Dough

  • 7/8 cup water lukewarm
  • 2 Tbsp butter softened/room temp
  • 1 egg
  • 418 g all-purpose flour (approx 3½ cups)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp active dry yeast

  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • Melt 2 Tbsp of butter and brush over the tops of the buns. Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until done.
  • Melt additional 2 Tbsp of butter and brush over freshly baked buns. Allow to cool before serving.
