Country White Loaf – For the Bread Machine

Pictures do not do this loaf justice. Never have I ever made such a fluffy and spongy white bread in my bread machine. The interior crumb is spongy and delicious, the crust is an amazing mix of chewy and flaky. I couldn’t be happier.

Also – see the notes if you’re interested in making a Hoagie style sandwich roll, because this bread makes a fantastic Jimmy John’s style sandwich.

A note – this recipe is made for a 1.5 lb loaf, however it fluffed up so much, it filled my 2 lb bread machine. Be prepared! You may need to scale down!

Notes

RECIPE UPDATE: Recently I have attempted making this bread into a sandwich bun (hoagie style) and I have to say it is fantastic. Like Portillo’s and Jimmy John’s sandwiches got together.
To make the sandwich buns:
  1. Prepare the dough as typical, setting your bread machine to ‘Dough’
  2. Remove the dough and separate into 4 (for large hoagies) or 8 (for individual servings) portions.
  3. Roll the dough into rolls or buns. Transfer to baking sheet and cover. Allow to rise for 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  5. Bake for 30 minutes.
  6. Transfer to wire rack and allow to cool before serving.
