Smoked BBQ Pork Ribs

There’s been so many sweets lately, time to make something savory!

My husband and I have recently invested in a kamado style grill, and I have to say we are just loving it. One of our favorite recipes to make so far is homemade smoked pork ribs! It’s super easy, takes no special ingredients, and just a bit of time!

Cuisine American
Servings 1 rack of ribs

Equipment

  • grill

Ingredients

  • 1 rack baby back pork ribs (2-4 pounds)
  • brisket rub to taste
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 2 Tbsp honey
  • BBQ sauce to taste

Instructions

  • Get your smoker/grill up to 250°F. We typically use lump charcoal and a handful of wood chips (usually oak but any will do). You will want to use heat deflector plates as you do not want direct heat.
  • Lightly coat your ribs in your preferred rub. We use Fiesta Brisket Rub – but any rub that's garlic and paprika based will do well in this recipe.
  • Place the ribs straight on the grill, close the lid, and allow to smoke for 1 hour.
  • Prepare aluminum foil (heavy duty recommended) for wrapping the ribs. Spread out the butter and honey in the foil. Place the ribs on the foil, top down to the honey and butter. Wrap completely in foil and place face down on the grill. This will allow it to marinate and remain juicier, while also preventing the bones from sticking out/poking holes through the foil, and drying out the meat. Allow to smoke for another 1 hour.
  • Remove the ribs from the foil and place directly on the rack. Brush with preferred BBQ sauce (we're Sweet Baby Ray's fans). Smoke for an additional 30 minutes.
  • Prior to serving, brush once more lightly with BBQ Sauce (optional) allow to rest for 10-15 minutes. Serve.
