Bread Machine Hamburger and Hotdog Buns

Dough
- 1 cup water
- 1 egg
- 4 Tbsp unsalted butter cut into pieces
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 3 cups bread flour
- ¼ cup dry milk
- 2 Tbsp corn starch
- 1 Tbsp Vital Wheat Gluten flour
- 1½ tsp salt
- 1¾ tsp active dry yeast
Toppings
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 Tbsp water
- sesame seeds to taste
Add dough ingredients to your bread machine in the order above (or recommended by the manufacturer)
Set for the Dough cycle.
Once the bread machine is complete, remove the dough onto a lightly floured work surface. Line a large baking sheet with either a silicone mat or parchment paper. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and shape as either hamburger or hotdog buns.
Place the rolls on the lined baking sheet at least one inch apart. Cover loosely with a clean, lint-free towel, and allow to rest for 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 375°
Mix the egg yolk and water to create an egg wash, and brush over the tops of your buns. Sprinkle with desired amount of sesame seeds.
Bake for 18 to 25 minutes, until lightly browned and cooked through. Allow to cool on a rack before slicing.
